To find out where and when our adoption days will be held please look at our Calendar of Adoption Days . Each rescue group holds independent adoptions at
different locations, so be sure to visit the adoption site of the rescue group that is the holder of the pet you're interested in. However, please
realize that not all of the fosters can always be accommodated at each
of our adoptions, so if you see a pet you are especially interested in,
submit an online application.

All applicants will be screened and an adoption fee is required.
Pet Orphans' rescue groups do not ship or adopt pets out-of-state and many
rescue groups prefer to adopt only in the metro Atlanta area.

Sassy Schipperke/Spaniel mix. Phiney (feen e) is her name. She's six years old and 28 pounds. She has a beautiful, jet black coat. She's spayed and house broken. She has recieved all shots and is currently on Sentinel heartworm monthly. She has a clean bill of health from our vet. I will pay for upcoming shot renewal and 6 month supply of heartguard. She's great with kids and other pets. She has a very sweet and mellow temperment. She will make a great family or senior pet. Unfotunately, due my military reassignment, I am unable to keep Phiney, so my first mission is to find her a great home! Pleeease help?

Chessman is a happy, fun-loving Corgi mix. He has a black and white coat and is less than a year old. Chessman weighs 27lbs and is a very friendly boy. He was dumped at an animal control along with his sister, Pirouette, because their guardian had 'too many dogs.' Luckily Chessman is with SDR and he's ready to give someone unconditional love in a home where he won't be considered to be one too many.

Kerry la Perla is an eight-year-old poodle who was rescued as part of the Jackson County Cruelty Case. She is white with tan spots, and weighs about 10 pounds. Like most of the dogs from the breeder bust, Kerry is learning how to live in a home with people. The day after arriving at her new foster home, Kerry delivered four beautiful pups, and has been a wonderful mom to them! Kerry is a darling girl who is enjoying her new life. Kerry will need to be placed in an adult only home, both now and in the future. Kerry will be ready for adoption in late May. Baby Phat came to us after being rescued in the Jackson County Cruelty Case. This beautiful tan and white boy weights about 10 pounds and is about two years old. Like most of these dogs, Baby Phat will need some socialization. His foster family has given him a huge head start in that direction, and is helping him learn to live in a house. Baby Phat loves his tennis ball, and has gotten pretty good at playing catch with himself! Due to his tiny size and limited socialization, Baby Phat will need an adult only home now and in the future. Lorna Doone, a 25 lb Schnauzer mix was found as a stray and never claimed. She is 2 years old. Lorna wamrs up quickly and loves attention, but she's a little nervous in general and can be wary of too much commotion. Once she's comfortable she is wagging her tail and enjoying afftection. Sippy Wallace is a little Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix. She weighs only 7lbs and is about 10 years old. Sippy is blind for the most part and can only see shadows, although that doesn’t seem to slow her down! Sippy loves to follow her foster mom around the house. She's got a fabulous disposition! She's calm, quiet, sweet and cuddly with great house manners. She is a perfect lap dog and perfect apartment dog. Miss Sippy will need an adult-only home now and in the future.

Vitello is a handsome Bichon Frise/Lhasa Apso mix. He's had a haircut since he arrived at SDR and is feeling good now that the mats are gone. Vitello is 4 years old and weighs 14lbs. He is a happy, friendly boy. Like many Lhasas he doesn’t take nonsense and will need someone that understands his quirks. No small children for Vitello.

This beautiful blonde boy is Mr. Muggles, a purebred Pomeranian. He is 11 years old and is a sweet gentleman doggy. Mr. Muggles and his two companions (also seniors) were surrendered by family members on the death of their caretaker. Yet another unfortunate example for why everyone should make arrangements for the care of their pets should anything happen! But, don’t let “Mugs’” age fool you, he is still a playful boy! In his foster home he likes to play with the other dogs in the house, then settle into a lap for some cuddles. He also does fine with the cat! Mr. Muggles will do best in a quiet, adult-only home.

Ferragamo, or “Bobby” as he’s affectionately known, is an eight-year-old Maltese. After spending most of his life in a crate, Bobby was rescued as part of the Jackson County Cruelty Case. Of all the Cruelty Case dogs SDR rescued, Bobby was definitely in the worst physical condition. We are happy to report that he is well on the road to recovery. He is quite playful, and rarely barks. He’s doing surprisingly well with his house manners, and loves to be a lap dog. Bobby is a sweet dog who needs love, patience and someone to continue providing good food and medical care. At only eight pounds, Bobby needs an all-adult home now and in the future. We do not recommend any of the Cruelty Case dogs for first time or inexperienced dog guardians.

He is such an easy going dog and is the perfect little companion. He is calm, quiet, and gentle. In fact, he is so well mannered you hardly know he is in the room! 4 years old, 16 lbs - Buster is as precious as his little face looks. He is a very calm and loving dog and listens well. He comes when he’s called and goes into his crate when told. He is content just being by your side. Buster lived in a room in the upstairs of a house for over a year and was kept in a small pen when let outside. His ankle was broken when he was tossed down the stairs and it was never repaired so he limps now. Our vet says there is nothing that can be done. He has two be-be's in him from his previous home also. Despite this neglectful and abusive treatment, he is a sweet loving dog who loves to go for walks and also curl up on the foot of hte bed.. Buster did not have proper training early in life and wears a belly band when indoor. All dogs are vaccinated, heartworm and fecal negative, microchipped and altered prior to adoption. This beautiful girl is the life of the party! Sweet, playful, and affectionate, Pita is the prototype for the beagle breed. With a great sense of humor, Pita will charm her way into anyone's heart. About five or six years young and with a curvaceous, 25lb. figure, she gets along great with other dogs, loves children, and appears to be completely housebroken. 3 years, 18 lbs (needs a diet!) - MC (short for Miss Congeniality) is one happy little girl. Give her a baby pool and some bubbles and she’s busy for hours. She loves pawing at her shadow and the bubbles she creates while entertaining herself. MC is crate trained and house trained. She is good with all dogs but she especially adores puppies and smaller dogs so she can let them climb all over her. MC is frightened of small children and runs under the bed to hide from them so we are looking for a home with no small children for her. All she wants is to be loved, have toys and treats and a blanket to sleep under. She is big cuddle and will close her eyes and enjoy a good back rub. J Peterman is a fortunate fellow. After 6 months of living alone in a house with 3 other dogs after their guardian died and being fed by the neighbors when they could do it, he was finally turned over to rescue. J Peterman is really enjoying getting to interact with people again, he was loved and taken care of until his guardian passed away. This black and tan cutie is Captain Underpants! He is a Min Pin/Chihuahua mix that weighs 7lbs and is about 3-4 years old. He is a very energetic, playful boy that loves attention. Captain Underpants does have a serious heart murmur that prevents us from having him neutered (due to the strain of anethesia on his heart). He is not on medication as it wouldn't help in this situation. However, Captain has absolutely no idea that he is sick and runs around, happy and playful. He does fine with other dogs. This is Lords A Leaping, named so because he can do just what his name suggests: leap! Leap is a Cairn Terrier mix, is about 3 years old, and weighs 12lbs. Thunderbird, affectionately known as T-Bird, is a handsome peke who was used as a stud in a puppymill, living in horrible condition. Fortunately, he is better shape now and doesn't appear to have any major health issues. T-Bird will need an adult only home and, preferably, one that is experienced with the pekingese breed. He ikes to play with other dogs and toys (his foster home says he loves his Kong!). T-Bird does not regularly attend our weekly adoption events. Tim Tam is one of a kind! An adorable terrier mix with a black and white spotted wire hair coat, Tim Tam is 2 years old and weighs 15lbs. Dana Scully is a pretty Puggle - a Pug/Beagle mix. Dana was found as a stray and never reclaimed. She is a young adult and weighs around 20lbs. Dana has a lot of energy and is a very active girl, but she has a great combination of energy and affection. She will go jogging with you then settle in to watch your favorite show on TV with you. She loves people and is very friendly; she will welcome you with kisses. Dana is a playful, happy dog.

10 wks old as of 5.11.08 - Moe is a sweet little boys who just wants to run and romp and trip over his own feet b/c they he is so happy to play in the grass! He and his brother Larry ( also listed) love to be held and cuddled and have wonderful personalities. We do not know exactly what they are but they and mom look like Schoodles (Schnauzer poodle mix). We estimate that they will be approx. 20-25 lbs just to be safe!

3 Year Old Jack Russell born on March 26th of '05. Smooth coat, long legs and all white with brown marking on face. He has been microchipped but was never registered with Home Finder. He was neutered on April 1 and has all his shots. This little guy has been on the road for some time and probably had little contact with people. He is absolutely love starved and would really like to be an "only child" so he gets as much attention as possible. He plays great with other dogs and would spend all day in the dog park running and playing catch if he could. He loves toys and balls and getting his belly scratched. He was timid when we first found him and now he is full of kisses. He doesn't like to be moved when sleeping, like every other Jack out there, but also loves to cuddle and would really like to sleep in the bed with you if you'd let him. Jacks in general are not great pets for small children and he requires a secure home and a backyard with a fence as he must have been a pretty good escape artist. It's hard not to fall for this sweetie at first meeting and we would keep him if our 3 other pups had given us their blessing. However, they are all Jacks too and they were feeling a bit dejected when we took him off the streets and brought him home. We call him Nemo, after the lost little fish in the Disney movie "Finding Nemo". He seems to be responding to his new name quite well. My name is Jumpin Jack Flash and I am one of the best family dogs in SmallDog Rescue right now! I am a happy boy, about 2 years old and solidly built at 16lbs. And who could resist my super-cute underbite? Like most terriers, I am active and smart! I have lots of energy to spend so a fenced in yard or regular walks would be great! Once I've had my excersise I like to flop down with my family for a nice cuddle. I love to play with everyone - two legs or four, it doesn't matter to me. I am very affectionate and love people. This is Mr. Macaroni! He is an adorable Jack Russell Terrier mix; he looks just like 'Eddie' on the TV show Frasier, just a little bigger! He is 3 years old and weighs 18lbs. Macaroni is happy for a second chance on life, he didn't come from the best of circumstances. “Mac” is a friendly, happy dog, with plenty of energy, but not wild. He is doing wonderfully in his foster home where he gets along with all the other dogs and is good with visitors/strangers. Mac likes to cuddle, is very smart, and has great house manners. He walks well on a leash, too!

Tony Soprano is a black, tan, and white Chihuahua/Terrier mix. Tony is one nice little dog. He's full of energy, and playful. He gets along nicely with his kennelmates. Tony Soprano is 1.5 years old and weighs around 19lbs. Mr. Soprano, with all due respect, will need an adult-only home now and in the future.

Winston is a 3 year old, 15 lb purebred CKC Yorkshire Terrier. He is larger than an average Yorkie. He was given up when his guardian went through a divorce and didn't have time for him. He has been neutered, given DHPP, rabies and bordetella vaccines. He is heartworm negative and on preventative. He is also microchipped. Winston is a lively, happy dog that loves to give kisses. He likes to play fetch with his squeeky toys. He gets along with other dogs and is submissive, but does not want to play with them (not sure about cats). He barks at strange noises and when there are animals on the TV. Winston sleeps on the bed with his foster mom. Winston is housebroken and non destructive when left alone. Preference given to those that are home at least part-time. Verifiable pet history required. No small children for this small dog now or in the future. We adopt only to the north metro Atlanta area. Finch is a six year old, purebred, adorable 18 pound Dachshund. Finch has been loved his entire life and it shows. Finch became homeless when his mom could no longer take care of him anymore. Finch loves his toys and affection. His coat is silky smooth and he has very good house manners. He has a typical clown-like personality found in Doxies which causes one to smile from his intelligence. Plus, he loves to just lounge around. No small children for Finch.

Cha Cha is a Papillon/Chihuahua mix. She has a beautiful medium length white, gray, and brown coat. She is about 7 years old and weighs 6lbs. Found as a stray, Cha Cha has clearly been through a lot so she's a little scared right now, but should settle in once she feels more safe. SmallDog Rescue considers Cha Cha a permanent foster. This cutie is Calzone. He is one of a litter of four beagle/min pin mix puppies (as best we can guess). The two girls, Bruschetta and Calzone, resemble more of the miniature pinscher, while the two boys, Risotto and Stromboli, have more of the beagle look. Approximately 4.5 months old at the beginning of 2008, these puppies will make great family dogs. We estimate that they will be between 20-30lbs full grown. They love to play and are energetic and adventurous. Because of their exuberance, they are not a suitable choice for children under the age of 6.

Ferragamo, or “Bobby” as he’s affectionately known, is an eight-year-old Maltese. After spending most of his life in a crate, Bobby was rescued as part of the Jackson County Cruelty Case. Of all the Cruelty Case dogs SDR rescued, Bobby was definitely in the worst physical condition. We are happy to report that he is well on the road to recovery. He is quite playful, and rarely barks. He’s doing surprisingly well with his house manners, and loves to be a lap dog. Bobby is a sweet dog who needs love, patience and someone to continue providing good food and medical care. At only eight pounds, Bobby needs an all-adult home now and in the future. We do not recommend any of the Cruelty Case dogs for first time or inexperienced dog guardians.

Benetton came to us after being rescued in the Jackson County Cruelty Case. He is about eight years old, and weighs just 7 pounds. Ben, as his foster mom calls him, is discovering a whole new world! He is fascinated by the television, and very curious about what is beyond every door. Ben gets along well with his canine siblings, and is learning to ignore the resident cat. He is learning to walk on a leash, sleep in a bed, and play with toys, which he absolutely loves! George Costanza is a fortunate fellow. After 6 months of living alone in a house with 3 other dogs after their guardian died and being fed by the neighbors when they could do it, he was finally turned over to rescue. 8 years, 8 lbs- Ralphie is an awesome little man. He is well trained. He can sit, shake, lay down and come on command. He is gentle and calm all of the time. He as recently started to play with the little 5 lbs dog in his foster home. He even waits patiently to be told it’s ok to jump up on the couch and cuddle in the blanket we keep there for him. He also knows how to look at you pitifully so you will sit with him! This little guy loves his little sweaters and once we shaved off all those mats he needed one. Ralphie is good with kids, dogs and cats, however, he is a tiny bones little guy and he is looking for a retirement home with no small children. Additional vet care completed in addition to the standard K9 annual check up: We ran Ralphie's blood work and all was very good except his white blood count. This is Myrtle. She was left in a carrier in the middle of a parking lot with a sign that said 'free'. Miraculously, someone heard her crying and brought her to us. She is awesome!! So smart and loving and calm and perfect. Can you tell we fell in love? She appears to be about 3 - 4 months old, weighs 7 pounds, is some type of wire-haired terrier, lets you know when she needs to go outside. Adidas is an adorable little Terrier mix. She is only 1 year old and weighs 19lbs. Adidas, her brother Reebok, and their mom, Fila, were found wandering stray down a busy highway. Dawson can be timid though. If you move towards him too fast he cowards down a little but this fade with lots of love. Dawson will need a very secure fenced yard or leash walking.

1 1/2 yrs old, 9 lbs!!!! Should be 16-18! Juju Bear is a darling little man who is full of energy and has a wonderful spirit. He loves to play fetch but he hasn't learned to bring it back yet. He runs like the wind on his transformer like legs. He is so funny. He looks like a tiny little dog when he is curled up then he unfolds those long spider legs and he is very tall and awkward.. Juju loves to snuggle also. He will curl up next to you or get under the covers when cold. He gives great little kisses and is just a wonderfulboy. He is good with other dogs and kids. Juju can sit and shake on command. He is very smart and just needs someone to love him and spend some time with him. He is very dependent upon his person and it will take him a few weeks to settle in a new home. He was very tramatized by his abandonment. You see, Jubie was dumped and living alone under a bridge on 575! He was starving to death when we found him. All dogs are vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Sippy Wallace is a little Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix. She weighs only 7lbs and is about 10 years old. Rudolph is a handsome brown and white chihuahua mix. He is 6 years old and weighs about 11lbs. He follows his foster mom everywhere and loves to be held. Talbott
Talbott is one of over 300 dogs rescued from the Jackson County Cruelty Case. Talbott is doing well in his foster home, and gets along with all of his fur siblings. He is learning to walk on a leash, and is doing well with his house manners. Talbott enjoys a nap in the sunshine, and a romp in the yard. When he’s excited, he has a cute way of pacing around. He does well on stairs, and is learning to play with toys. At 7 years old and only six pounds, Talbott will need an adult only home now and in the future. We do not recommend any of the Cruelty Case dogs for first time or inexperienced dog guardians.
