To find out where and when our adoption days will be held please look at our Calendar of Adoption Days . Each rescue group holds independent adoptions at
different locations, so be sure to visit the adoption site of the rescue group that is the holder of the pet you're interested in. However, please
realize that not all of the fosters can always be accommodated at each
of our adoptions, so if you see a pet you are especially interested in,
submit an online application.

All applicants will be screened and an adoption fee is required.
Pet Orphans' rescue groups do not ship or adopt pets out-of-state and many
rescue groups prefer to adopt only in the metro Atlanta area.

Parker is a gorgeous purebred approx. yr old Beagle w/long velvety ears(24lbs). He came from a high kill shelter in the No. GA mts where he hadlittle or no chance of getting out w/o rescue’s help. He loves to playw/other dogs in his foster home and adores his toys. Parker is verywell-mannered: crate-trained, obedient, and listens well. He is very lovingand is a wonderful dog. 3 months old (born 9.17.09), 20-25 lbs as an adult - Comet is very outgoing and loving and playful. He wants to be held and get lots of love but he also likes to chase his toys. He is a wiggle worm and lets you know when he is ready to be KILLED so he can run and play. He is full of personality. So matted down upon intake, Justice had to be sedated in order to be shaved down completely. This smart, sweet boy, a 3 year old and about 23lbs., had been living on his own for quite some time, fending for himself the best that he could. Fortunately, he is coming around to 'domestic' life and is trusting his foster mom more each and every day. Justice will need a quiet, adult only home. SmallDog Rescue now considers Justice to be a permanent foster dog. What a character! You must be looking for tons of personality to adopt Jose. He is always happy to see his people, he will let you know by letting out a few barks when you come in to greet you, wagging his tail, and he is not happy until you agree to have breakfast with him. He is even happier when you pick him up and make him the most important dog in the room. He loves people and loves to be petted. He can be shakey and timid like Chihuahuas are sometimes when you hold him but he still likes the attention. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with stuffed squeaky toys. He is housetrained, will pee on a pad or go outside to fenced yard. He does not like to be crated, but prefers to be baby gated with a doggie bed. We do believe there may have been some history of abuse with Jose only because every now and then he lets out a little yelp if he feels threatened. But we don't believe this has caused him any major long term issues. Again, Jose has a BIG personality and will need some social training to boost his confidence but other than that, he is a great dog, Please apply today.

9 1/2 years old, 7 lbs - Jerry is only 5 lbs but he thinks he is 55 lbs. He is so funny and will quack (sounds like a duck) at the big dogs if they get too riled up. Jerry spends his days sitting on a pillow on my bed side table or the table in the living room window and just watching the world. He loves to sit in my lap and will paw at my hands when I stop petting him. Jerry listens perfectly, comes when called. Jerry is great off leash and just wants to stay in your shadow but with his size you have to be careful of birds of prey that can carry him off. He cannot go outside alone! Jerry has only a few teeth left so he loves the soft foods. He runs in circles to get in his crate to eat. Jerry needs a home with ONE PERSON where he can follow someone around and sit in their lap all day while they watch soap operas. He is a one person dog and if he is in that persons lap and you come to pet him, he growls and snaps. He has no teeth so it doesn’t hurt but he is comfortable and you better not touch him or his person! He would be perfect for an older person as long as they can go outside with him, feed him treats and spoil him rotten.All dogs are fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, spayed/neutered and microchipped. 4 yrs old, 15 lbs - Daisy is a sweet, snuggly, playful girl. She loves to toss her toys in the air and then try and shake them to death. She can't have stuffed toys b/c she destroys them but boy does she have fun doing it so she gets cheap ones on special occasions! Daisy likes to play ball and go for walks. She also loves to go to the dog park. Daisy sleeps under the covers and snuggles up close. Daisy is good with kids but a little scared of them. She attaches herself to one person in the household and doesn’t play with children. She seems dismayed by them and little scared. She lets them pet her and is fine outside of the home but we placed her in a home with kids once and she refused to go near them! special needs sweetie pie! Pinky is a 4 yr old, short coat Black & Tan male Chihuahua. He is a friendly, but laid back and kind of shy dog, who is great with people and other dogs. He was rescued from euthanasia due to the fact that he has a seizure disorder. Please don't let this deter you from considering Pinky. Dogs with seizure disorders can lead normal, happy, and healthy lives with the help of inexpensive daily medications. And Pinky's seizures are under control with the use of Phenobarb. Please note: We are seeking an ADULT ONLY home for Pinky that has experience with special needs dogs which can be confirmed through veterinary reference. Buster Butterbeer is an outgoing and playful terrier/poodle mix. He is a smart, 9 ½-year-old fellow who enjoys the company of his other four-legged pals. Walking on a leash is not a new skill for Buster; he’s got it down! This 29-pound, tan and white pooch is also a good listener. This beautiful blonde boy is Mr. Muggles, a purebred Pomeranian. He is 11 years old and is a sweet gentleman doggy. Mr. Muggles and his two companions (also seniors) were surrendered by family members on the death of their caretaker. Yet another unfortunate example for why everyone should make arrangements for the care of their pets should anything happen! But, don’t let “Mugs’” age fool you, he is still a playful boy! Mugs weighs 9lbs. In his foster home he likes to play with the other dogs in the house, then settle into a lap for some cuddles. He also does fine with the cat! Mr. Muggles will do best in a quiet, adult-only home.

This shy young lady is Ethel Smyth. She is a 3-year-old tricolor Silky Terrier who tips the scale at a mere 8 pounds. One of several dozen dogs released to us by a large out-of-state breeding operation, this sweet girl will need someone to give her the time and patience she needs to help her come out of her shell. 2 years old, 17 lbs - Probie is a sweet but shy little man at first. You can tell he has not been touched alot and he flinches when you first pet him. Once he knows you and trusts you though he is happy to see you and wants to be loved. He is very food motivated and you can tell he really wants to learn. He was very very skinny and dirty when we got him. He had spent his life on a rope with no shelter and then when his family moved they just let him run free and left him behind. Probie is currently wear a belly band while he awaits his neuter appointment. He is marking at my home but I have other boy dogs. With surgery and training he will quickly learn. He listens well. Thunderbird, affectionately known as T-Bird, is a handsome peke who was used as a stud in a puppymill, living in horrible condition. Fortunately, he is better shape now and doesn't appear to have any major health issues. T-Bird will need an adult only home and, preferably, one that is experienced with the pekingese breed. 2 yrs old, 12 lbs - Kiki is a sweet little girl who loves everyone she meets. She spends her days in my chair as I sit at the computer. She makes a great back support. She doesn’t really play with toys very much and on occasion will play with her sister but her life is more focused on me. Where ever I am she is right there with me. She also sleeps in the bed. I still crate Kiki when I am not home. I take her out regularly when I am home but I have to go outside with her. I think she is afraid I am going to leave her out there. Kiki likes the other dogs, is good with cats and kids. We hope to find her a home with his sister, Boo who is listed below, but this always seems impossible when we have two. We will consider re-homing them separately. 2 1/2 yrs old, 6 lbs - Chipper is a sweet little guy but very scared when he first makes a new home transistion. It takes him a few days to come put of his shell. You can tell he has been abused. Once he is settled, he is so cute to watch. He loves to run around and find the stuffed animals that are bigger then him and bring them back to his bed for company. He wiggles that little butt with happiness but all the while unsure if he will get in trouble for it. He also loves to give kisses. Turrialba is a precious 4-year-old female Chihuahua who was removed from a puppy mill but placed a little too hastily afterward. As a result, she has found her way now to SmallDog Rescue. As is common with refugees from puppy mills, this chocolate brown, 14-pound sweetie is shy and timid – but oh-so-wants to be friends with her people. She needs a calm home and a patient person or family to help her out of her shell. When she does fully emerge, the rewards most certainly will pay back a hundred-fold. Violet is a Jack Russell mix. Sadly, she and her brothers and sisters were turned in by their guardian only because of the economic conditions. We have Violet and her sister, Rose. Marvin is a 1 year (approx) adorable little (22lbs) Manchester Terrier mixwho was a favorite (stray) in Henry Co. animal Control. There's a goodreason for that: he is fun, clever, dedicated to his new-found friends andwilling to listen. Izzy is a one and a half year old 16 pound female Papillon mix. She has been spayed, received all vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, on flea prevention, heartworm tested (negative) and is on prevention. Izzy was given up by her guardians as their teenage daughters did not bond to her. Izzy is a quiet, calm dog inside dog that likes to be by her person. She is a snuggly little lap dog. She loves to give little kisses and get her belly rubbed. She will lay beside you when you are relaxing or watching TV. She is used to sleeping on the bed with her foster mom. Mickey was found wandering on a cold day with icicles hanging off him. Very affectionate and good. He does not chew things, seldom barks. Loves to ride in car. Chases cats if he sees them from afar but once he is close to them he is okay. One of the foster mom's cats actually loves him and sleeps with him. Gets along with dogs. He is actually perfect...not one of those nervous type small dogs.

We rescued Jada about 8 years ago from an animal shelter in Rochester, NY. Jada would do best in a home with older or no children. Ellie is a 1yr-2yr old Blue coated, female Chihuahua about 10lbs. She was surrendered by her former guardian through no fault of her own. She is very, very sweet and playful and gets along well with other dogs as long as they are not too energetic or dominant. She loves people too, but at first she can be very timid. She is not the type of dog that you will be able to take everywhere with you, unless you invest some serious time in boosting her social skills.
