Pet Orphans is a referral service and does not operate an animal shelter. The dogs and cats that you see on our website or at one of the advertised adoption days are being fostered by independent rescue groups. If you would like to contact the rescue group for a dog or cat that you see on our website, please follow the link near the pet's picture and fill out an application and the rescue group will usually respond within 48 hours.

If you have adopted a pet and need to return that pet to the original rescue group, please look at your adoption contract to find out who you need to call to return the pet.

If you have a personal pet that you no longer want to keep, then we first suggest that you contact the original rescue group that you adopted him from if you got him from a rescue group. If you got the dog or cat from a breeder, read your contract to see if your breeder will take the pet back. Also, we suggest you look at the Atlanta Rescue List and call appropriate rescue groups to see if they will take in your pet.
