Pet Orphans

Cats for Adoption

To find out where and when our adoption days will be held please look at our Calendar of Adoption Days . Each rescue group holds independent adoptions at different locations, so be sure to visit the adoption site of the rescue group that is the holder of the pet you are interested in. However, please realize that not all of the fosters can always be accommodated at each of our adoptions, so if you see a pet you are especially interested in, submit an online application. For information on a pending application, please click on the "contact" link on the specific dog, then click on the "e-mail" link. All applicants will be screened and an adoption fee is required. Pet Orphans' rescue groups do not ship or adopt pets out-of-state and many rescue groups prefer to adopt only in the metro Atlanta area.

Please consider participating in our Pet Guardians program , a way to help sponsor an orphan pet of your choice. to learn more.

A Special Note: If you are considering adopting a kitten, please take a moment and consider that the life span of a cat is 15-22 years, and that a kitten will stay a kitten for a few months, and then becomes a cat forever! That cute little furball will grow fast. So please consider our adult cats!!

We also want to tell you that some people think our adoption fees are "high". While it is true that many people give away cats and kittens "free to a good home", those cats and kittens typically have had little, if any, veterinary care in their lifetimes. Our cats and kittens have been tested for Feline Leukemia/AIDS, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas before adoption. We must pay for these veterinary services and products, and one call to your local vet should convince you that our fee represents a fraction of what you would pay for the services and products our cats and kittens receive before they are adopted.

Billie

  • Billie
  • adult male
  • Domestic Short Hair-black

Date of birth: approx 5/1/05. Billie was found as a tiny lost kitten in a PetSmart parking lot but he's grown into a gorgeous, big sleek black leopard look-alike. Godiva and Athena

  • Godiva and Athena
  • adult male
  • Tabby

Date of birth: 4/1/2005. Hello, my name is Godiva (black male), and this is my sister, Athena (gray tabby). I am actually a puppy in a cats body! I’m constantly playing and running, until I wear myself out – at which point, I’m going to want to cuddle up next to you to sleep. I adore my caretaker’s dog, and I get along great with other cats. Plus I’m used to hanging out with my three siblings. In fact, I need to be adopted with Athena, my sister. As you can see, she’s a cutie also. Unlike the rest of us guys (she was the only girl), she is a bit shy at first – but once she gets to know you, she will seek you out and purr to let you know that she wants some attention, then she’ll jump up and make herself at home on your lap or curled up next to you. She “chirps” rather than meows to express herself. We are a well-matched pair, both in looks (don’t we look great together?) and personality. Please let us share our love with you!

Romeo

  • Romeo
  • young male
  • Maine Coon

Date of birth: approx. 8/9/07. Hi, I'm Romeo and as my name might indicate, I'm a real lover. I was seized from my home in June 2007 in a neglect case and have been living in a multi-cat foster home since that time. I'm an older, distinguished gentleman and I have diabetes, so I'm a special needs fella. I am stable on my diet and insulin and don't put up any fuss at all about getting my shots. I LOVE to eat and my foster mom says that I'm the biggest chow hound she's ever seen. I really like to have my head, cheeks and chin scratched and to be told how devastatingly handsome I am. I'd love to cuddle and nap with you if you'd give me the chance. I'm quite an affectionate guy! I'd be so grateful to have another shot at a happy home - I'm a pretty terrific guy with a lot to offer. I'm very much an alpha cat, so I would be fine as an only cat or with a buddy who is a beta personality type. Or I even do OK with small, mellow dogs! Are you that special someone who is willing to open their heart and their home to me? You won't be sorry, I PROMISE!!!

If you're looking for a little lover boy to bring years of hugs and cuddles to your life, Leslie is your guy! Leslie and his siblings will be available for adoption on 5/19/08. Leslie must have a suitable cat companion or cat-friendly dog companion. He sure would love to be adopted with one of his brothers or sisters!

Date of birth: approx 10/1/2005. Hello there! My name is Sebastian. The nice people who fostered me call me "the most gentle and sweet kitty they have ever known!" When I first came to Furkids with my best friends, Sylvester, Bo and Sammi I was very afraid of people. I learned to trust humans when my foster parents put a little turkey baby food on their finger -- I just LOVE a baby food treat now and then!! Even when I am afraid, I NEVER hiss or scratch. I will flop right over your shoulder and let you hold me. I am also a very funny and PLAYFUL boy! I especially like playing with my friends, so if you have a place in your heart for two of us we would love to become a part of your family!

Jack

  • Jack
  • adult male
  • Domestic Short Hair-white

Date of birth: June 2004. Jack is a handsome, mostly white cat, with the softest fur you’ve ever felt! He likes to be called Jack Jack or Jack Jack Shellack. He loves kisses on his head and nose and to be scratched all over, especially by his tail and will give you the ‘elevator butt’ in response. He enjoys being held like a baby and even likes being covered up with a baby blanket. He likes to eat and will walk around the food bowls chattering his breakfast and dinner order so that you know exactly what he wants. He has a tiny little meow and he tends to chatter instead of giving one big meow, it’s very cute! Jack is playful and energetic and loves playing chase with the other cats in the house. His favorite toys are the Turbo Scratcher and a miniature beanie bear, which he will carry around in his mouth like a baby. Jack is very bonded with his brother, Colby and they must be adopted together. They are both a little shy around strangers but will come out of their shells quickly once they are in their permanent home. They would do better in a quiet home with no young children. Jack LOVES other cats and gets along great with them, he even likes my small dog. These are awesome, affectionate, sweet, cuddly cats, but they are going to take a little patience in the beginning. But really, what is a few weeks of extra TLC when these boys are going to give back many, many years of love and joy? It’s truly a special bonding process that will help you forge a very deep and lasting connection. Jack has feline lower urinary track disease which requires twice daily medications. Don't let that scare you away though, he is still a sweetie and will take the meds like a champ!

Ginger

  • adult female
  • Domestic Short Hair-black

Date of birth: 8/1/2004. Ginger has short hair, and is all black with the exception of a perfectly placed white patch on her chest. Ginger is a very sweet girl, but since she didn't have a home when she was born, she did not have the human contact at a young age like her mother, Blaze. She loves to be petted (and will ask you for it) and she loves attention, but she is not a lap cat but she loves to talk to you and will follow you from room to room. She will call for her mother if her mother is too far out of sight. She loves to curl up and sleep with her mom, and will also curl up and sleep beside you on the bed. Ginger is a wonderful girl with a good disposition, and will do well with an understanding guardian. Babette

  • Babette
  • baby female
  • Domestic Short Hair-black

Date of birth: approx 6/22/2007. Babette is very affectionate. She purrs when you pick her up & stroke her. She doesn't mind being held at all. She lets me hold her as long as I want to. She never struggles to get away. She's easy to get out of a crate, but a little trickier if she's loose in the room. She doesn't come right to you. I have to lure her with a toy, but she's extremely playful with toys, so that's not that hard. She plays well with the other kittens. She's a bit feisty with Brady, but I think he brings it out in her. She squeals & hisses, then when he walks away, she pounces him. She's a great kitten...so playful, but then so sweet when you hold her. Her biggest "weakness" at this point is running away from you if you're trying to get her in a room. But she's not so shy you can't get her to come with a toy (or food), so I think she'll get over this. Must have a cat companion. Please fill out an application today!

Wittle Wicky

  • Wittle Wicky
  • adult female
  • Domestic Short Hair - gray and white

Date of birth: approx 1/1/2005. My name is Wittle Wicky. I am very sweet. I love to lick you. I love to blink my eyes at you when you blink your eyes at me. I like to play with kitty toys and love scratching posts. Plus, I like to sleep by your side. My foster parents rescued me when I showed up in their backyard screaming for help because I was pregnant. Apparently, I was dumped by my previous guardian because I was found with my torn-up blue collar still around my neck. My new parent or parents need to be one-kitty-guardian(s) because I am slightly aggressive towards other animals. My doc says this is because I had to survive by myself for so long. My foster parents don’t know how I am with children, so I guess that I should stay away from them as well. Further, I would really enjoy living in a home with a screened-in porch where I can hang out during the day while you are at work.

Moses

  • Moses
  • adult male
  • Domestic Short Hair-white

Date of birth: approx 1/1/2005. We would like to introduce Moses! He is a gorgeous all white male cat. This poor guy came to Furkids with a broken femur (leg bone), but no worries because he is one tough little cat and it has healed up just fine. You would never know he had a broken bone because he is a very loving graceful cat. Moses is one of our special FIV+ cat, but I hope that doesn't scare you away. There is a lot of misinformation out there about FIV+ kitties, but we are NOT dangerous to people or other cats, and this is NOT a highly transmittable disease. I can, and likely will, live a long life. Being FIV+ just means that I need to be treated right away if I get a cold or any other illness, because my immune system isn't as great as other cats'. And you'll definitely need to keep my shots up-to-date and get regular vet exams because this will boost my immune system. Please think of Moses when you are looking for your very own Furkid!

Misty

  • Misty
  • adult female
  • Domestic Short Hair - gray and white

Date of birth: unknown. Misty is an older female cat that came from a metro-Atlanta animal control facility. She is quite beautiful and regal. She also is very vocal. Misty has a beautiful gray and white coat, almost like a Russian Blue. Misty likes to be on the highest surface in the room so she needs new parents who will understand her desire to go on top of cabinets and furniture. Misty is affectionate and very loving and but does have the tendency to become over-stimulated when being petted, usually just around her tail area. Therefore, she would not do well in a home with young children. She gets along fine with other cats. I have no knowledge of whether or not she has ever lived with dogs. Misty is very expressive and would make an excellent companion for a retiree or responsible young professional.

He has a very loud purr and will let you know when he is in need of some holdin’ and lovin’ and pettin’ and squeezin’. Like his brother, he has a tiny little meow that sounds a bit like a kitten. He loves kisses on his head and nose, scratches on his cheeks and enjoys having his belly rubbed. This is the most non-aggressive cat I’ve ever seen and will not fight back even if he’s picked on. Colby is very good with nail trims and will lie quite still while you trim both front and back paws. He loves other cats and gets along great with them, and even likes my small dog. When it’s dinner time, he will come in the kitchen and give little cries of encouragement, to help hurry me along in fixing his food. Colby is a bit shyer than his brother and Jack helps bring him out of his shell. They are very bonded and must be adopted together. They are both a little shy around strangers but will come out of their shells quickly once they are in their permanent home. They would do better in a quiet home with no young children. Are you the special person who is willing to work with these handsome young men? Believe me, they are worth every minute!

Precious

  • Precious
  • adult female
  • Domestic Short Hair - gray and white

Date of birth: approx 1/1/2004. Hi, my name is Precious, and I was trapped at Fulton County Jail. I brought my kittens to a nice lady that was feeding our feral colony there and they have already been adopted. I only have ¾ of my tail left, because it was bitten by something and I would not let anyone give me any medicines, so I kind of look like a pixie bob. It took me a while longer to give in, but now I am living the life of luxury. I have come around and as long as there aren’t many loud noises, I am doing GREAT! I love to sleep with my foster mommy at night and the only thing you can not do is pick me up, but I will come to you for lots of loving and playing. I get along very well with other cats and I am a mother hen to all of the foster kittens that my mommy brings home. I am also dog socialized up to 85 lbs. I am looking for my forever home with a nice quite household that would love to have a sleeping partner at night.

Tofu

  • Tofu
  • adult male
  • Tabby - white

Date of birth: Approx. July 2004. Tofu is a cute white and gray tabby. You might be wondering how he ended up with such an unusual name, huh? Well, when the Furkids volunteer was trying to trap and rescue Tofu's mom and siblings, he managed to escape the trap, to a tofu factory of all places. He lived in the tofu factory, presumably on tofu, for several weeks after the rest of his family had been taken into rescue. That is one reason that he is so much smaller than his siblings - more the size of a 4 month old kitten. However, his size doesn't seem to have affected his personality! Tofu loves to run and play with his siblings, but is also very affectionate and loves to be held. He is fully vetted and ready to find his forever home. Tofu would like to be adopted as a companion to another young, playful cat or cat friendly dog.

CHARLIE

  • CHARLIE
  • young male
  • Domestic Medium Hair-black and white

Charlie has a thick coat and full fluffy tail, as well as a little white horse shoe between his eyes for luck. He was abandoned by some neighbors a few doors down and has become a fine hunter for that time on his own, but he really prefers to spend time inside with his friends or curled up under a window. He gets along very well with human strangers as well as other animals. I have a 12-year-old cranky cat who's not too partial to strange cats, and when Charlie senses her discontent he lies flat and submits to the animal already dominant in the household. He's a good "companion" in that when he is outside, he likes to follow his person even for a walk through the neighborhood, and when sitting he likes to sit erect right next to you like an Egyptian guardian.

While they are not ready for adoption at this time, Furkids is providing much needed TLC for them and medical care. They are very fun kittens to be around and the fact that they are missing toes and the tips of their tails has not slowed them down one bit!
