different locations, so be sure to visit the adoption site of the rescue group that is the holder of the pet you are interested in. However, please
realize that not all of the fosters can always be accommodated at each
of our adoptions, so if you see a pet you are especially interested in,
submit an online application.

All applicants will be screened and an adoption fee is required.
Pet Orphans' rescue groups do not ship or adopt pets out-of-state and many
rescue groups prefer to adopt only in the metro Atlanta area.

A Special Note: If you are considering adopting a kitten, please take a moment and consider that the life span of a cat is 15-22 years, and that a kitten will stay a kitten for a few months, and then becomes a cat forever! That cute little furball will grow fast. So please consider our adult cats!!
We also want to tell you that some people think our adoption fees are "high". While it is true that many people give away cats and kittens "free to a good home", those cats and kittens typically have had little, if any, veterinary care in their lifetimes. Our cats and kittens have been tested for Feline Leukemia/AIDS, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas before adoption. We must pay for these veterinary services and products, and one call to your local vet should convince you that our fee represents a fraction of what you would pay for the services and products our cats and kittens receive before they are adopted.

Date of birth: 5/16/2004. Kaytee is one of four kittens rescued from a outdoor colony site, when just weeks old, as the last kitten the colony would produce. She escaped capture for a week longer than her litter mates and realized that the outdoors was not the place to be raised. So she allowed herself to be picked up to join her sisters and be socialized. A beautiful black and white tuxedo with white spats on all four feet. She has discovered that being raised by a human as an indoor cat has the advantages of warm laps, regular meal times; and cat toys; which she rewards with a hearty purr and affection.

Date of birth: approx 1/1/2008. This beautiful cat was found living in her foster's bushes along with her 4 month old kittens. Her kittens have been taken care of, but mama still needs a home. Hi!! My foster mom told me to tell you a bit about myself . . . it is hard for me . . . I’m a bit shy. But I am SO ANXIOUS to find out if you may be my forever life companion so read what I have written: I love to play with my brothers, Max and Sparky, chase the light pen, sit on the kitty condo and play with all sorts of things that fly around on the floor. If you look at my picture you can see I have large green eyes rimmed in black. I am a petite orange, white and tan calico with some faint stripes on my legs. Even though I look small – I am grown up!! And if you could touch me, you would find me quite soft. I love chin scratches and gentle belly rubs. I do chatter on now and then. I don’t want to be alone since I have always had one of my brothers with me. They keep me marvelous company now and we all get along well together. I am used to a quiet place and need time to adjust to your home. Perhaps you can make room for 2 of us J!!! (Foster mom has had 4 of us plus her 2 small dogs, 3 hermit crabs and the birds!! -- animals are her kids). Well that is about all my story – what is yours – I have a lifetime to listen . . . . Dolly and her siblings (Max and Sparky) were rescued from an abandoned home and have had all their necessary shots and have been neutered. They need to be adopted into a home with either their sibling (Max or Sparky) or another kitty or dog that could be their companion. They need time for an adjustment. They live in adult only home and get along very well with my two Italian greyhounds. Dolly is suitable for a child (children) over the age of 8. Dolly is approximately 1 year old.

Date of birth: 10/27/2002. Eros is such a sweet cat. Eros was rescued from a neighborhood after being abandoned. She has a lovely, plush, soft coat, is fully veted, and has a clean bill of health. 3 yrs old, KitKat showed up at a volunteers house one day and just started hanging around. She seems to get a kick out of sitting on the opposite side of the fence and meowing as loud as she can at the dogs! She is a very smart kitty. She knew where the animal lover lived. She loves to hang out on the front porch lounging in the chair, waiting for her food and daily pets. She loves to get her belly rubbed. Kit also walks with you like a dog. When you go for a walk around the nieghborhood, she follows behind. She will run past you and then stop and wait. Kit also goes to the windows at night where the lights are on and meows as loudly as she can. Kitkat needs a home where she can be safe, inside, away from the coyotes that have been spotted all over the county. She longs for human contact and comes running and meowing whenever you are outside. She is odd with dogs. She hisses and swips but then will go lay 3 feet from them. There are no other cats around so we do not know how she is with cats. She needs a forever or foster home ASAP!

These special cats have a rare condition called radial hypoplasia which causes the radius– one of the two parallel long bones in the lower foreleg (between elbow and wrist)– to be unusually short. Sometimes called ‘twisty cats’ or ‘kangaroo cats’, these two don’t let their disability prevent them from living the same lives as regular felines, in fact, they do some things with more skill and gusto. To make getting around more efficient for them, carpeted floors and/or area rugs are necessary, and since they love to be near you, which sometimes means up-high (nothing higher than three feet, please), low steps or bolsters near their favorite spots are required for cushioned landings. Believe us, they WILL jump up on to your lap for daily love sessions which is nothing less than miraculous when it happens for the first time. Litter box usage is a piece-of-cake, they just hop right in and out without struggle. Every day is a good day for these siblings, whether it’s playing together like wild animals, or standing on their hind legs waving their ‘hands’ in the air when it’s wet food time, they will always put a smile on your face and add tons of warmth to your heart. These special cats have a rare condition called radial hypoplasia which causes the radius– one of the two parallel long bones in the lower foreleg (between elbow and wrist)– to be unusually short. Sometimes called ‘twisty cats’ or ‘kangaroo cats’, these two don’t let their disability prevent them from living the same lives as regular felines, in fact, they do some things with more skill and gusto. To make getting around more efficient for them, carpeted floors and/or area rugs are necessary, and since they love to be near you, which sometimes means up-high (nothing higher than three feet, please), low steps or bolsters near their favorite spots are required for cushioned landings. Believe us, they WILL jump up on to your lap for daily love sessions which is nothing less than miraculous when it happens for the first time. Litter box usage is a piece-of-cake, they just hop right in and out without struggle. Every day is a good day for these siblings, whether it’s playing together like wild animals, or standing on their hind legs waving their ‘hands’ in the air when it’s wet food time, they will always put a smile on your face and add tons of warmth to your heart. This poor guy came to Furkids with a broken femur (leg bone), but no worries because he is one tough little cat and it has healed up just fine. Snickers is a very loving sweet torti cat that is approx 1.5 to two years of age. She gets along well with other cats and tolerates dogs. She is very well behaved, calm, clean and extremely loving. She has short to medium, soft, thick fur which does require regular brushing to cut down on shedding. Ella isn't the most playful kitty, but she is one of the most loving. A very calm kitty, Ella loves to be near people, often napping for hours on the sofa with her foster family. She purrs a lot and makes a ton of "biscuits". Charlie has a thick coat and full fluffy tail, as well as a little white horse shoe between his eyes for luck. He was abandoned by some neighbors a few doors down and has become a fine hunter for that time on his own, but he really prefers to spend time inside with his friends or curled up under a window. He gets along very well with human strangers as well as other animals. I have a 12-year-old cranky cat who's not too partial to strange cats, and when Charlie senses her discontent he lies flat and submits to the animal already dominant in the household. He's a good "companion" in that when he is outside, he likes to follow his person even for a walk through the neighborhood, and when sitting he likes to sit erect right next to you like an Egyptian guardian.

Felix is a sweet one year old neutered Black/White Tuxedo male. He and siblings (all black)were found abandoned a year ago as tiny kittens. Date of birth: 1/12/2003. Tangi came to Furkids with her three children Frankie, Henry and Gabby, who all went to the same loving home during our grand opening weekend. Lucy had 4 babies outside a nice woman�s house and was a fantastic mom. Lucy and one of her babies, Princess, tested positive for FIV and it would be great if they could be adopted together.�Lucy is very affectionate and is a leg rubber, talks to her foster mom and goes to her for cuddles and loving. She�s very easy going and enjoys a lap. FIV is not contagious to other cats if they don�t have bad fights that cause deep bites and if they don�t have sex. Date of birth: 1/31/1999. Although Michael came from tough beginnings, this boy is VERY sweet and loving. It is noted that sometimes the best animal companions come from difficult beginnings, as they truly appreciate a kind heart and safe home. Michael is no exception!
